EXPLORATION
It's a two-fold exposure for the student.
First, helping students find what they are most gifted with and passionate about, and leading them towards opportunities to seek, examine and overcome unfamiliar musical territories to lead them to successful musical experiences and performances.
Second, leading students through the maze of understanding musical style and the subtle differences of musical details that go into making music that is individualistic.
Exploring is meant to be fun.
ENGAGE
It is the role of the teacher to help students engage with the details of their music score. To do this, students need to understand technique, style, intuition and passion at the appropriate level of their physical, aural, and musical and creative development.
Choosing a teacher is essential in inspririg students to engage in the development and creative process required to making a piece of music come alive.
Once engaged, and having the understanding, one will carry it with them for a life time of music making. It will over flow into other aspects of their lives, becoming a very useful "life skill".
Music is not to be experienced alone, but with others. Through our journey of reaching for places unseen, we involve others. Family, teacher, audience, adjudicator, examiner, friends, relatives, etc. All share in the journey of a student's musical education.
INNOVATE
Based on a student identifying their gifting, developing their tools and finding their passion, the next stage of their growth comes with the ability to be innovators of musical expression and a newness of musical interpretation.
To innovate is to be able to transform a piece of music into a representation of what they, the performer, feels in their heart, and to personalize the music, and then to give it away to the listener.

Mainstream Music + Studios is a collection of talented, dedicated professional instructors and musicians who combine a love of music with a desire to help others who want to achieve their highest musical potential. That passion shows in all we do!
Memorable teachers are the ones who advise and mentor, reveal, exhibit and most of all inspire students to EXPLORE, ENGAGE, and become INNOVATORS which leads student to inquisitiveness, fascination, instinctive experiences that reveal their belief in who they are….their humanity.
Paul Bagley of Mainstream Music + Studios has been around the Calgary area, teaching music for more than 30 years. Paul states that every human being is on an individual life journey and within this journey some of the us engage in some form of musical training. Realizing this, Paul has developed a music teaching business which features extensive studies for all levels of piano, theory and composition.
As a member of ARTMA, Paul streamlined his studio to include his advanced students to teach with the passion to help students reach and succeed towards their desired goals. At the same time, he has mentored many students into teaching and performing on the concert stage. Here, at Mainstream Music + Studios the student teachers have the expertise to offer students opportunities to develop all of their musical needs under one roof. All students participate in the Master classes run by Paul Bagley.
Mainstream offers Piano lessons from Beginners to ARCT with monthly Master classes to familiarize students with performance in a supportive environment, examinations, and performance opportunities outside of the studio. Students have the opportunity to further improve their artistic development through preparation and verbal interaction with other students and teachers. This becomes an added performance opportunity.
Additionally, Paul has developed a custom accelerated system of learning for Rudiments, Harmony, History, Counterpoint and Analysis. Paul continues to add, that students who follow Paul’s accelerated program can complete all levels of theory within 4 years rather than the 7 to 9 years that this typically takes. This presents a significant cost savings and Students typically also achieve higher results. This also frees students up to focus on their advanced levels of their instrument of choice.
